SpotOn – "Bye, bye short shots"

SpotOn's

Start of the event:
16:00 pm (CEST, Berlin, Germany)
10:00 am (EDT, North Carolina, US)
09:00 pm (ICT, Bangkok, Thailand)

SPOT ON!!! & ACTION!
You are cordially invited to take a glance at our free event series SpotOn. Today's focus is set on the subject of the phenomena of "short shots".

During the filling process very large differences in pressure, temperature, viscosity, and material characteristics often occur in the cavity due to a non-uniform melt-flow. This misbalancing is caused by the flow behavior of the melt in the cavity. The viscosity of the polymers is affected by the shear rate and temperature. By increasing the shear rate, the viscosity decreases. Any increase in temperature reduces the viscosity. The highest shear rate is directly beside the frozen surface layer. The shear viscosity and the shear heating reduce the viscosity in this area. This can result in uneven component dimensions, fill patterns, sink marks, warpage or high injection pressures and surface defects etc. These variations often lead to problems, such as dimensional instability, fill pattern and sink marks, short shots, high injection pressure, long cycle times, high scrap rates, warp, surface issues, and a lot more.
In this SpotOn you will learn more about the latest technical possibilities to avoid short shots, but also what kind of assistance simulation technology can deliver.

We look forward to our guest speaker Ulrich Stieler, Firma Stieler Kunststoff Service GmbH, who provides us a practical insight into technical possibilities concerning flow behaviors and avoiding short shots.

Additionally, our Steffen Paul, Managing Director of SimpaTec, will evaluate the simulation possibilities of how to control, influence fill operations and how a regular flow behavior can be achieved. Furthermore, non-uniform behavior of the flow inside the cavity but also between the individual cavities can be efficiently optimized and scrap rates and cycle times reduced whilst ensuring higher productivity.

The event will be moderated by Florian Aichberger, Sales Engineer, SimpaTec Austria. You are invited to ask questions in the chat throughout the entire event. We are happy to answer the most important chat questions in the discussion at the end of the SpotOn.

Broaden your horizons and find out about current developments regarding short shots and flow behavior.
